South Korea's manager: What matters is that the players didn't give up

Hong Myung-bo praised his players for the character shown in the comeback against Czech Republic and declared the match against Mexico crucial.

South Korea manager Hong Myung-bo was delighted with the 2-1 victory over Czech Republic in the first Group A match at the World Cup. He praised his players for not giving up after conceding first and managing to complete a full comeback.

"The fact that the players didn't give up has an enormously positive effect for us. I want to congratulate the footballers for this win," Hong Myung-bo began.

"The World Cup always starts with a tough first match. I feel genuine joy from this victory. During the hydration break I told them that we had more than enough time to score more goals, as long as we played our own game. I specifically emphasised that they should hold their positions and not give away possession cheaply," the Korean continued.

Finally, he commented on the upcoming clash with Mexico, which will play a significant role in shaping the group standings. "For many reasons, the match against Mexico becomes an extremely important one for us. We have the remaining week until then and we will prepare in the best possible way," the coach concluded.
