England thrash Miami FC 6-0 in behind-closed-doors friendly, Toney hat-trick
England hammered second-division Miami FC 6-0 in a behind-closed-doors friendly, with Ivan Toney scoring a hat-trick.
The England national team have played another friendly ahead of the World Cup, with Thomas Tuchel's side demolishing second-division Miami FC 6-0, five of the goals coming in the second half.
As expected in a match played behind closed doors, the squad largely featured players who hadn't featured or had limited minutes in the friendly against Costa Rica the day before.
Ivan Toney grabbed a hat-trick, while Jordan Henderson, Rio Ngumoha and Ethan Nwaneri each added one goal apiece. The latter two were called up only for the preparatory camp and will not feature in the World Cup matches, despite the Liverpool talent impressing greatly in the minutes he received — with many regretting he won't be involved in the upcoming games. Marc Guéhi and Kobbie Mainoo also got additional minutes after coming on as substitutes against Costa Rica as well, and are said to have performed strongly.
England begin their World Cup campaign on 17 June against Croatia.
